The Common Mommy Denominator

I'm a Mom. I need adult conversation. I need to talk about the banalities and the excitements of life, and be understood by the masses. Most of all, I need feedback. Let's chat. You about yours, me about mine, us about ours. Let's find and discuss the Common Mommy Denominator.

The Drama Continues...

Protesters like crazy at various LDS temples...the list of Yes on 8 donors being circulated (with as many of the LDS individuals and groups on it identified as possible) so that no on 8'ers can harrass members and the church...harrassment and intolerance from angry no on 8'ers in general...truly, friends, did you ever think you'd see a day where Mormons were persecuted this widely again? The church does not generally involve itself in politics, of course, EXCEPT where moral issues are concerned. Not since the extermination law was presented, however, have we been so widely abused and subjected to such bigotry.

Someone please explain to me why no on 8'ers are so eager to engage in the bigotry of which they accuse us? Why they don't act like "grown ups" and just pursue legal avenues to complain? Speaking of which, if prop 8 should never have been on the ballot, why are they only complaining about it NOW?

Sigh. I am just so done with politics, people! Moral issues? I'm there, which is why I'm discussing hate against the LDS church now...but politics? It's been a few days...aren't we done yet?

There is NO HATE against your church. People are DEFENDING THEMSELVES FROM YOUR HATEFUL CHURCH!

NOT EVERYONE IN AMERICA IS MORMON and they DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT.

And as always, thank you for making my point. If you want any mention of you removed from my blog, perhaps you should stop commenting? Just a thought. :)

why are we the only ones people hate so much... they should go hate the people who voted yes in compton and see where that takes them.

Sarah, what exactly are you defending yourselves from? this was a vote taken to the people. clearly, "Yes on 8" did not have as much funding, or as much "star studded" support. it passed because that is what the people wanted. we were tired of being ruled by a VERY vocal minority. No one is attacking you. we exersized our right to support a cause we believed it, and you exersized yours. the MAJORITY prevailed. you have your right to protest, and if you feel you must, go right ahead! but DO NOT feel justified in harrassing people who make up LESS thank 5% of the voters who supported prop 8! THAT is discrimination. avoid hypocricy at all costs. avoid the discrimination we're all trying distinguish.

Found your blog through your comment on Seriously, so blessed. I was offended by her post for probably the same reasons you were - because I have come under personal attack for fighting for what I believed to be right. The wounds are still raw, and in some cases, I feel that people are still trying to inflict NEW wounds.

Thank you for your convictions and for having the guts to stick by them!!!
